Naval Weapons Station Earle Challenge Coin
Opened in 1943, Naval Weapons Station Earle has functioned as a vital ammunition depot for over six decades, supplying Navy and other U.S. Military units with the weapons needed to defend America's freedom.
Situated on the north New Jersey coastline along the shores of Sandy Hook Bay, this time-tested naval installation continues to provide Fleet operational services and infrastructure management in aid of the U.S. Navy's Atlantic Fleet. Naval Weapons Station Earle is divided into two major components: "Mainside," which consists of more than 10,000 acres and is home to the station's many tenant commands; and the pier complex, comprised of a "finger pier" that stretches 2.2 miles into Sandy Hook Bay. These and many other assets have helped make Naval Weapons Station Earl a crucial part of America's national defense network.
This coin honors the proud heritage of Naval Weapons Station Earle and salutes all those who have served this great installation. The obverse features the station's official seal. The reverse features the seal of the U.S. Navy. Struck in a brass alloy and brushed with an antique bronze finish, this coin is imbued with bright enamel highlights. Each coin comes packaged with a header card that describes the Navy's centuries-old commitment to protecting freedom around the world.
