Focused on preparing America's Army Reserve Units for rapid and effective mobilization throughout the world, the U.S. Army Reserve Command (USARC) is vital to the strength of the U.S. Military arsenal.
Comprised of eleven Regional Support Commands located throughout the United States, the USARC trains, prepares, and equips combat-ready soldiers who are able to deploy at a moment's notice in support of America's global military mission. In addition to operating several regional training facilities in the U.S. the USARC manages the Army's Overseas Deployment Training (ODT) program, which provides Reservists with an opportunity to receive mission-related training while performing mission-critical tasks for forward deployed forces. Bolstering the strength and increasing the flexibility of America's fighting forces, the U.S. Army Reserve Command is essential to the success of U.S. Military operations throughout the world.
This coin salutes the vital mission and enduring service of the U.S. Army Reserve Command. The obverse features a rendering of the USARC's official Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, which contains the heads of two bald eagles facing in opposite directions, symbolizing constant vigilance and preparedness. The reverse contains the Reserve Command's Distinctive Unit Insignia, which features a blue and silver shield depicted in front of two crossed sabers and contains the phrase "Twice the Citizen," highlighting the command's role in training elite citizen-soldiers.
