Headquartered at Fort McPherson in Georgia, the United States Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) is the Army's largest command.

Charged with the mission of training, mobilizing, and deploying land forces to support the U.S. Military's global defense initiatives, FORSCOM manages ten active component major subordinate commands, including three of America's numbered Armies. In addition, FORSCOM directly oversees the operation of the U.S. Army Reserve Command, which boasts a force strength of approximately 180,000 soldiers. First activated in 1973, FORSCOM has played a major role in strengthening America's national security for more than thirty years.

This coin salutes the mission of the United States Army Forces Command to ensure that America is always ready to defend the cause of freedom throughout the world. The obverse features a rendering of FORSCOM's official Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, which contains three horizontal stripes of red, white, and blue surrounded by a green border. The reverse contains FORSCOM's Distinctive Unit Insignia, which incorporates the tri-color shoulder patch design and includes the words: "Freedom's Guardian."

Minted in a brass alloy and finished in bronze, this coin is imbued with brightly colored enamel on both sides. Each coin comes packaged with a detailed header card that describes the mission and history of the U.S. Army.
