Charged with the mission of training, mobilizing, and deploying land forces to support the U.S. Military's global defense initiatives, FORSCOM manages ten active component major subordinate commands, including three of America's numbered Armies. In addition, FORSCOM directly oversees the operation of the U.S. Army Reserve Command, which boasts a force strength of approximately 180,000 soldiers. First activated in 1973, FORSCOM has played a major role in strengthening America's national security for more than thirty years.
