Propelled by steel nerves and an iron will, Air Force Firefighters battle the smoke and flames each day, risking their lives to protect air bases and other U.S. Air Force installations around the world from fire's destructive force.

As they carry out their dangerous calling, they are inspired by the legacy of another courageous firefighter, St. Florian of Lorch, a soldier in the Roman Army who suffered torture and death for daring to save Christians from their burning villages.

This coin is dedicated to all those who serve as firefighters in the the U.S. Air Force. The obverse depicts St. Florian and a modern-day firefighter engaged in their life-saving work. The reverse bears the official emblem of the U.S. Air Force.

Minted in a brass alloy and finished in antique bronze, this coin comes packaged with a header card that describes St. Florian's courage and conviction in colorful detail.
