This coin is dedicated to the military and civilian members of the Department of Defense who enable that organization to meet its mission to protect and defend Americans at home and abroad. The obverse features the official seal of the Department of Defense, which contains an American Bald Eagle with wings oustretched. Bordered by a classic wreath design, the reverse contains a space for engraving.
Minted in a brass alloy, this coin is finished in antique bronze. Each coin comes packaged with a detailed header card that describes the mission and history of the Department of Defense.
