OPSGEAR® GIVES Supporting the Amber Alert

October 8, 2010

Utah’s AMBER Alert Plan has a very loyal benefactor. For the third straight year the Davis Chamber Women In Business will be holding a benefit to raise money for the state child abduction notification system. They asked OPSGEAR® to support this great cause and we are happy to do it because it's close to our heart. David Burnell, CEO of OPSGEAR® and The Urban Warfare Center has been on missions to recover children who've been abducted and trains men and women to help out in high risk and dangerous situations.

“Utah’s AMBER Alert Plan doesn’t receive tax dollars and so it relies on good people who just want to protect children,” says Attorney General Mark Shurtleff. “The Davis Chamber Women In Business show year after year they truly care about children.”

The “Come As You Aren’t Party” will be held October 16 at the Davis Conference Center to raise money for the AMBER Alert program. The event will feature a comedian, live music, silent auction, costume contest and dinner. The organization is hoping to raise about $20,000 this year and wants to spread the word. OPSGEAR® is helping to do that and we ask that are friends do the same and donate if you have the means.

“The AMBER Alert brings abducted children home and serves as a deterrent to anyone considering harming a child,” says Elaine Runyan-Simmons, a member of Women In Business. “We are hoping to raise enough money this year to keep Utah’s AMBER AlertPlan running smoothly.”

Runyan-Simmons became a child advocate after her 3-year-old daughter Rachael was abducted and murdered in 1982.

Previous donations from the Women In Business will pay for a statewide AMBER Alert Training for the media and law enforcement on October 5 in Salt Lake City. More info can be found at
